Copymaster PLA: the measured parts

The readings below come from one P1S print using Copymaster3D PLA Polar White. All dimensions are in millimetres.

A good result on the supported shapes

The block was within 0.08 mm of its nominal dimensions. The bar’s largest reported error was 0.03 mm. The tray’s outer dimensions were also close, though its opening came out smaller than designed.

The box and lid assembled with a loose fit. Subtracting the measured insert from the opening gives about 0.21–0.23 mm clearance per side when centred. That is less than the nominal 0.30 mm, but still plenty of play.

The bridges and fins

The short bridge printed square. The two longer spans showed visible distortion and sag. On the 30 mm bridge, the reported envelope from the lowest belly to the top of the roof was 3.18 mm, against a nominal roof thickness of 2.00 mm. That is not the same as measuring 1.18 mm of downward sag.

The least demanding fin printed cleanly; the others had rough or failed unsupported surfaces. The revised plate keeps a short bridge and a mild fin, with a ramp and collared sphere for surface inspection. Those additions are not part of this set of results.

One reading needs care

The 30 mm bridge opening was recorded as 29.92 mm at the bottom and 31.51 mm at the top, alongside a note describing inward splay. Those do not agree if both readings use the same inside faces. We have left the original readings in place rather than guessing which should change.

Setup and estimates

The machine was a Bambu P1S with a 0.4 mm nozzle and Textured PEI plate. It used the Copymaster reel in AMS slot 2, with 210°C at the nozzle, 60°C at the bed and 0.20 mm layers.

The sliced job estimated 1 h 40 min 18 s and 22.14 g. Actual time, energy and consumed material were not measured here. The dimensions are workshop calliper readings; instrument accuracy was not independently verified.
